Making healthy choices shouldn’t mean canceling plans, swearing off socializing, or being hungry and cranky. In order to be effective and sustainable, your healthy routine has to work for you, your way. That’s why the 5-Day Reset was designed to be customizable — so anyone, at any age or stage of life, can benefit.
When creating the 5-Day Reset, flexibility and practicality were key for Kroma Founder Lisa Odenweller. “It has to be individualized,” she told Molly Sims on her Lipstick on the Rim podcast. “I need to be able to show up for my work and my kids, and I don’t have time to slow down.” Anyone who’s done a juice cleanse knows what she’s talking about.
Before you put your entire life on pause for another extreme detox, learn how to have a 5-Day Reset experience that’s perfectly tailored to you and your life.
There’s more than one way to Reset. “Bioindividuality is a major facet of what we did with Kroma,” Dr. Will Cole, functional medicine expert and Kroma Medical Director, explained on The Skinny Confidential Him & Her podcast. “There are people who have higher metabolisms, they’re working out more, they have more of a demand calorically, so they can do the [Active] track. We don’t want people to be deprived.”
Not only does the 5-Day Reset work its magic through real, delicious food, you also have the opportunity to supplement your meals and beverages with additional ingredients as needed. That might look like some berries in your morning Super Porridge or shredded chicken and zucchini noodles in your dinner broth. Unlike most cleanses, it’s about nourishment, not starvation.
With three expertly designed Reset protocols to choose from, you can customize your experience so it meets your needs while getting you to your goals:
Choose if: You want to kickstart weight loss, establish some new healthy habits, and feel better overall.
How to do it: Follow the program as recommended in the brochure and in the instructions on each sachet. While you should feel free to add additional fruits, vegetables, and lean proteins as directed, listen to your body and be mindful of your true needs. FYI, this is the most popular protocol among Kroma customers and results in an average weight loss of four pounds.
Choose if: You’ve struggled to lose weight in the past and want to accelerate the process while experiencing a deeper elimination diet.
How to do it: Prepare your daily Latte(s) with half water and half non-dairy milk. Limit OMG Cookie Butter to one tablespoon per day. Your daily Plant-Based Smoothie is optional. Only add vegetables to your daily Broths if you feel you need the extra nourishment.
Choose if: You’re an athlete or otherwise super-active person who wants a gentle detox while still being able to perform at your peak.
How to do it: In addition to following the program as directed, supplement your meals and beverages with as many approved foods as you need. For instance, enjoy your Broths with shredded chicken and vegetables, boost your Smoothies with avocado or coconut cream, and/or toss a handful of nuts into your Super Porridge.
Heads up: When you’re adding food to your 5-Day Reset, choose organic ingredients if possible.
One of the biggest fears people have about cleansing or detoxing is feeling hungry and miserable. But many people who complete the 5-Day Reset report being surprised by how satiating it was — in fact, often they find there’s more food than they can finish.
By eliminating the mental work of choosing what to eat, the 5-Day Reset is a prime opportunity to tune into your body’s intuition about hunger and satiety. If mid-morning rolls around and you’re still satisfied from breakfast, don’t feel obligated to make your daily Smoothie. (You can always save any unused sachets for future enjoyment.) As we’ve already covered, you can also supplement your Reset with approved foods as needed. Refer to your protocol for guidance.
If you’ve ever done a juice cleanse or detox that left you too exhausted to get off the couch, let alone to a workout class, forget all that. Exercise is encouraged during the 5-Day Reset; movement is a great way to facilitate the detox process, keep digestion humming, and boost your mood. Most Resetters feel up for working out as they usually do for the duration of the five days.
That said, remember that this week is about listening to your body. Your experience may vary from day to day, and it’s possible you’ll feel occasional sluggishness as a result of the detox process, especially if you’re experiencing withdrawal symptoms from excessive coffee, sugar, or alcohol. Do what feels right, even if that means swapping your regular HIIT workout for a gentle yoga flow or stretch session. Any movement is good movement.
Everybody — and every body — is different. The Reset is designed to flow with you, regardless of your needs, goals, and lifestyle. Get creative, experiment, and tune into your body throughout the experience.
